Yves Saint Laurent – My Paris

Since 2012, the talented Hedi Slimane has taken over the reins of the Yves Saint-Laurent house.

Some reproach him for being too far from the spirit of the house, others find in him the genius of the creator. Indeed, like Yves Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane shares a taste for revolution and provocation. Nevertheless, this time he seems to want to refocus on the brand’s ancestral values. In particular, it takes up the designer’s pronounced taste for the city of Paris by offering a brand niche fragrance simply called Mon Paris, a reference to one of the places most dear to the heart of designer Yves Saint Laurent .

The new Mon Paris perfume

This new juice is already announced as a dazzling fragrance, a sort of modern olfactory interpretation of an intense and free love. My Parisis built around three facets. More concretely, Mon Paris opens with a fruity start before evolving into a floral heart and melting into chypre scents. It begins with a combination of strawberry, raspberry and pear. Thus, the fruits are worked in a juicy, sweet, soft and green way at the same time. Then, Mon Paris shows us its floral part. Its heart is clearly dominated by the presence of datura flowers, a plant sacred to the Aztecs and giving off a powerful scent. However, this is associated with the elegant purity of peony as well as the solar and luminous aspect of orange blossom. Jasmine, meanwhile, further enriches the whole with its warm, opulent and rich scents. Finally, My Paris ends with a particularly sensual trail. Patchouli delivers its powerful and complex scent, woody, camphoric and earthy at the same time. Its smell almost evokes that of a cork of wine or an overripe apple. This ingredient is nevertheless associated with musky tones for a particularly addictive rendering.

Yves Saint-Laurent’s love for the capital

If the Yves Saint-Laurent brand has decided to call its perfume Mon Paris, it is quite simply because the history of the brand has always been closely linked to that of the capital. Indeed, it is in this place that Yves Saint-Laurent decided to undertake studies of styling before working at Dior as artistic director. Likewise, it was in Paris that he met the love of his life, Pierre Bergé. Both lived in the capital and set up their fashion house there, at 5 avenue Marceau. In addition, the many cultural places in Paris never ceased to inspire the designer. This is how he designed a parade dedicated to great painters such as Picasso, Van Gogh or Matisse. Likewise, after seeing many shows, Yves Saint-Laurent decided to make costumes for the theater, cinema or ballets. In addition, it is also in this city that made the meeting of many celebrities to whom he paid homage, in 1990, by carrying out a collection around Marilyn Monroe, Catherine Deneuve, Zizi Jeanmaire, Marcel Proust or Bernard Buffet. Finally, as if to end all this life of masterpieces, it was also in Paris, and more precisely at the Center Pompidou, that Yves Saint-Laurent ended his career with a parade of more than 300 models. No wonder then that the brand chose to call its brand new perfume Mon Paris.
