In the Skin, the taste of the embrace

It was in 1837 that the young Louis Vuitton left his native Jura to “go up” to Paris. Very quickly he found a job as an apprentice “layetier-packeur-trunk-maker”. Avant-garde and visionary, Louis Vuitton opened its first boutique in 1854.

It was not until 1914 that he installed the “Vuitton Building” on the most beautiful avenue in the world. Little by little, Vuitton is diversifying its activities into cosmetics, watchmaking and perfumery. In 2016, the brand presented 7 fragrances, each more addictive than the next, including “  Dans la Peau  ”.

The “Louis Vuitton Parfums” collection

Louis Vuitton’s first perfume, “Heures d’Absence”, released in 1927, has failed to survive the ages. In 2016, the brand wanted to create an exceptional collection, but above all unique. To do this, Louis Vuitton decided to call on Jacques Cavallier Belletrud’s nose.

The latter wanted to use new technologies in order to obtain results closer to nature, such as CO2 treatment. Regarding “Dans la Peau”, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud affirms “This perfume is the one my wife smells. I may have reconstituted a smell of love, but unconsciously … It is the perfume that is the most successful on the expression of sensuality, it expresses what we are attracted to and what we are attracted to. first ”. “In the Skin” tattoos on the epidermis, like an indelible ink.

In the Skin and its leathery notes

Discovering leathery notes, perfumers used scraps of leather from Russia. They then let infuse its falls until obtaining the desired odor. Today, the process is totally different. Leather notes are reproduced in the laboratory and are most often created by mixing synthetic and natural raw materials such as styrax.

Here, the leather has been worked like an infusion, in order to obtain the most natural essence possible. “Dans la Peau” begins with sweet apricot notes, combined with aquatic notes. The heart of “Dans la Peau” is ultra floral with the presence of jasmine, magnolia, and narcissus. Finally, the base combines notes of leather and musk, giving a warm and bewitching appearance. The bottle is the work of Australian designer Marc Newson.

Very popular, the latter is known for its daring and refined designs. It is precisely this minimalist bottle that we discover for all the fragrances of the Louis Vuitton collection. The glass is heavy and looks like an apothecary’s vial. The whole is topped with a black metallic cap highlighting the brand’s “LV” emblem . Its transparent base lets us glimpse the sunny color of its radiant nectar.

“Dans la Peau” does not feign desire, it bares it ”… An exceptional composition closer to nature gives the fragrance“ Dans la Peau ”an unprecedented emotion.
